New student,any advice?

I am24 and for the first time in 6 years I am going to uni. does any one have any tips or advice?New student, any advice?
Being a graduate from college myself, the one thing of advise i would give to you is:

Dont do the work just to get it done and out of the way, Do the work in order to actually learn something.

After graduating I sometimes would look back and wished I would have spent more time on certain projects or lectures. Mainly in order to have the information stick rather than have it be forgotten a semester later.

You are paying for an education, mind as well get your moneys worth!New student, any advice?
Just focus on school
Just be yourself. Thats the best way.
Make sure you take good lecture notes and that you start thinking about essay questions far in advance. Generally, in uni I find that its the people who understand ONE particular area very well--rather than those who try to understand the whole course--that seem to excel. But that's largely because I'm in essay-based classes. If exams are an issue, I'd still say the same thing, except do a major cram at the end of term to get the big picture superficially. That's the best angle from a marks perspective.

If you're going to learn-- like me-- I'd say just listen up! ^_^ and stay interested in the material.
If your professor assigns readings--read!
First of all, welcome back! Secondly, look at it as an adventure. Sure, some things will be irritating, and others will be difficult for you if you don't remember them after 6 years, but these things will be more than made up for by the additional maturity and stability you have by your age. Enjoy, and I wish you a great experience!
yes. read books, let your mind get used to swallowing information, get your reading comprehension up by reading informative books. quiz yourself, just to make sure you are getting the info. good luck!
just be urself and read read read
The first couple of weeks will probably be tough, it's getting the brain to think like a student again!!! (I went back at 40). But eventually, it'll come back - the study skills, the writing, etc. It's like riding a bike, you never forget!
Do the best you can, school is like expressing yourself, interact with students and the teacher... I look at it like this, the money you spend to educate yourself mineaswell be worthwhile and enjoyable.
read the texts... it's not high school and they will not hold your hand or remind you when things are due or even assign reading, they ';assume'; you are doing the work on your own so if you are in the class and they say such and such is due on the last day of class... you probably won't be reminded again until they ask where yours is...
what kinda tips r u looking for.. when i went back to college i made new friends, kept in touch w/some and we even helped each other out when it came to assignments.
It's intimidating going to uni for the first time but you just have to remember that everyone else is just as intimidated (possibly more, since you're a little older). Remember to smile; if you look too self possessed then people might think you're snobby. They'll be loads of opportunities to go out, you don't have to do every single one and try not to get too drunk before you know your way home! Join a society or two, they're a great way to meet peopl and not too akward since they don't just rely on conversation, you do stuff too. Joining more than two is probably pointless though, you just won't have time. Don't buy all the textbook they say you need, I've hardly opened mine in three years. You can get anything useful from the library anyway. There's never any parking on campus so I wouldn't bother driving (if you're in the UK anyway). Oh and if you get lost or need to know anything just ask whoever's closest; they'll probably love looking like they know stuff and if they don't, at least you'll know you're not the only one getting by on bluff and luck. Have fun, you'll be absolutely fine!
dont try to be somone your not
Keep yourself focus on your studies, but give yourself time to relax and enjoy your new associates. Make it happen and again have a good year.
Lie and say you are only 20
Congrats on going back to school. I would recommend buying as many used books as possible if the college bookstore doesn't have used look for the ISBN number on the back of the books and order them on-line. Take part in discussions, some instructors grade on this others just want some reassurance that they are being understood. Take notes and read, all instructors will have different testing methods, some only test over notes some over both. You will find this out as the classes progress. Don't be afraid to use the writing center if you college has one, it always helps if you have someone (especially writing tutors) look over your papers. And if you are going to miss class or be late let your instructor know.
