Our first guinea pig was an aby named Stormy. He came when we called him and was very affectionate. since then we have learned a LOT - make sure to keep your piggy in a solid-bottom cage and use kiln-dried pine shavings rather than cedar. they should have food with vitamin C and make sure that it doesn't have anything but pellets in it, however, you can add rolled oats and/or uncooked, unsalted sunflower seeds to the pellets. their diet should be 70% hay, 20% pellets, and only 10% vegetables and fruit. most grass hays are good for them, especially Timothy. Don't feed too much alfalfa as it can cause kidney stones and other problems.
Good luck! feel free to email me with any questions :) my email is groovyguineasgirl@yahoo.comBrought home a new guinea pig!! advice?
The bigger the cage the better, they LOVE to run.
I would suggest getting him a friend because they are very social.
Just make sure you quarantine the new one and slowly introduce them.
Lots of dark greens and hay!
:)
if you get him a friend, make sure you know the sexes of each pig first, unless you want babies :]
when u first bring them home they will feel scared and u just have to keep playin with him but my guinea pig is fat lol
