I'm buying a new car need advice?

Right I'm buying a red ford fiesta 2002 the new shape has 14k miles on the clock.

How can I find out if the milage is correct?

How much is it worth? it looks really clean and nice but is my first car so not really sure what to do!

Is red really a bad colour for a car?

What checks should I do before I hand over my hard earned cash?

All input appreciated off-course :)!!!I'm buying a new car need advice?
impossible to tell if the mileage is accurate...

you may take it to a maintenance shop and have them do an inspection on it... tell them you are thinking of buying it... might cost $50 or so.

red is no worse than any other color... it all depends on how it is taken care of. I know that ford had a problem with peeling paint.. I don't know what years or models tho. you might check with the dealer maintenance shop. while you are there you may also want to check on any recalls done on that year and model of vehicle..

to find out the value.... go to your bank... they can tell you loan and recommended sale amounts.I'm buying a new car need advice?
Check for excessive wear on the pedals, a shiny steering wheel or worn gear stick. These are all signs of very high mileage. If it is a 'flat' red rather than metallic, they are known to fade and if you have a respray of any part then it will be a pain to match the colours. However if it's been looked after and polished it should be ok.

Get a HPI check, you want to make sure there is no outstanding finance on the car or it has been reported stolen. I work for a main dealer and we also send off information to the VMC (Vehicle Mileage Checks) not sure if the public can access this but it might be worth having a look on the web.

Drive it, take a long test drive as well to get a feel for it. I have a 2005 Fiesta TDCi and its a lovely drive. Make sure the clutch bite doesn't feel too low or the gear stick too wobbly.

Don't be fooled into thinking that a 5 year old car with only 14K miles is good value. This is not true. Low mileage can actually mean a lot of problems on cars. Check the cam belt, if it has one, or when it was last changed. Find out the service history, how often the oil has been changed. Ask about brake pads and discs as well. Low mileage can cause the discs to wear and give problems with oil in the sump.

As for the Fiesta itself, its a great little runaround and pretty reliable. Let me know more details i.e. is it a Fiesta Style and engine size and I'll see if I can get a 'book' price for it at work tomorrow and see if you are paying a fair price.
Get a HPI check on the car you can do this on-line if you want to, easy to follow instructions. If your buying it from a garage tell them you want an HPI check against the car first, they should be happy to do it, if not then walk away.

Good luck! : )
The mileage is on the title from the last seller. If the price is clost to $7000 tha is hi book value.. You never pay in earned cash. Need to check the title for liens---loans it is on the title. If there are liens the real title is at the loan office. That has to be paid off before you can take possession lien free... Ask the seller if he has a loan on the car.. the answer is Yes or NO..
The car will have an MOT certificate. Check the mileage on that. Also check the wear and tear an the pedals
the RAC are doing a car check for 拢5 just now, sometimes the colour red fades. get an independant garage to check it out for you it shoudn't cost much.
Are you buying a car or a Fiesta? Seriously, for the money you canbuy a better car. Try buying a year end car model. You will lose about $2/$3000 as soon as you drive off the lot. You can buy a ';fleet'; car or a ';demo'; car that still has factory warranty but they will have to sell it as a used car because of the mileage, (usually very low) but you will still have the factory warranty.
Do you have a mechanic or shop that you trust? Tell the place you are buying it from you are going to have it checked out by your mechanic and will not buy it unless they say it is good. If they are a good place they will have no objections, if not, move on they could be ripping you off. You will pay between $50 and $100US for your shop to look at it.
QUESTION 1. CALL YOUR LOCAL DMV OFFICE, THEY WILL BE ABLE TO ANSWER ANY AND ALL OF YOUR QUESTIONS AND AT THE SAME TIME YOU WILL BE GETTING THE CORRECT ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION.

QUESTION 2. NADA.COM

QUESTION 3. RED HAS BEEN PROVEN TO ATTRACT MORE POLICE OFFICERS.

QUESTION 4. RUN THE VIN WITH AUTOCHECK.COM AND NOT CARFAX.COM.

ALSO HAVE THE VEHICLE CHECKED COMPLETELY BY AN INDEPENDENT SHOP INSTEAD OF THE DEALER OR A CHAIN STORE BECAUSE YOU WILL BE OVERALL MORE PLEASED WITH THE FINDINGS AND THE SERVICE.
