Any advice, New Yorkers?

I'm about to move from a tiny little city in Ohio to Brooklyn, NY.


I've never been to New York before, and I'm moving there with my boyfriend. We need an apartment that's available for October 1st, preferrably in / around Williamsburg.


We don't have jobs set up yet, but we were going to pay 2 months rent up front so we can find jobs. We have enough money for all of this, we just can't seem to find a place. Any advice, on anything?Any advice, New Yorkers?
the best site to find apartment is new york craigslist.com. The apartments on that area are pricey, remember that you need to pay in advance first month plus deposit ( another month) so if you want to pay two month in advance you need your rent amount x 3. Also if you ate working with a real estate agent you need to pay their fee, that would be another month of rent approx.
