ok so i started seeing this guy like 3months ago we've known each other since high school though . lost contact and reconnected. things have been going really well except for the fact that we don't go out. at all . i mean never but we really close though , we have even said those scary words ';i love u'; anyway so its Christmas and this year i opted to not go to my family and friends and he did the same only his brother kept calling and now he decided he will take his cousin with him to see his brother. ok so they were going to go by train right ... then he asked me to come along, now mind u i haven't met any member of his family and its a big deal to me except he doesn't drive and i do and he said we should drive up together its like a four hour drive and part of me wants to jump at the opportunity to take our relationship to the next level yet another part wants him to ask me because he wants to not because he needs a ride and doesn't want to take the train. please help me decide soon.Need help with new relationship advice fast.?
Damn you got mad problems Dee, what you need to do is drop him off at the train station and see if he really just using you to drive him around.Need help with new relationship advice fast.?

My New Boyfriend...*Advice Please*?
I recently started dating a boy named D.J. He so happens to be a year younger than me, but that doesn't bother me. He's nice, funny, and actually really sweet. But there are some things that just make me worry.
He started smoking three weeks ago. He's done weed he claims ';once';. And he makes a lot of sex comments like he wants me to do it with him.
I'm fifteen by the way. I've made it very clear that I will not have sex with him. But I just wonder if I should date him. I do like him but I don't know if it's a good idea.
What do you think is right? My New Boyfriend...*Advice Please*?
talk to him about how you feel.
give him a little time to think about what you said.;
if he doesnt change then
break up

Advice for new skater?
I just bought a board because I thought it would be a nice way to get out of the house. Any advice for how to keep the board rolling or where I should keep my feet, or anything else I should know?Advice for new skater?
Always bend your knees. This is how I teach kids starting to learn, it usually works, but be flexible with the advice. Stand straight up and take one step forward, whatever that leg is, start using it as your ';push'; leg. Take the other leg and place your foot over the four screws in the front of the board. Bend your knees, push with your other leg. This will get it going, then put your other foot on the back concave of the deck, also known as the tail. This will take a little time to get used to, but you will get used to it and find a good way for you. Always bend your knees. Remember that everyone falls at one point or another. Practice this over and over again, just staying on the board. Once you are pretty proficient post another question about how to ollie and I am sure the YA community can answer. Good luck and keep trying.Advice for new skater?
Have your front foot at about the middle of the board, and your back foot on the tail. Keep your body balanced over the board. If you lean back, you are just gonna fall. Take three good pushes and then just glide until you start slowing down.
always wear your protective gear like helmet, kneepad, etc...acne treatment

Ouch! New kitten advice needed?
Grrr.
I adopted a kitten of 4 months. She is a Main Coon kitty. She's been very shy since bringing her home.
I left her alone for the first few days, then began to call to her and pick her up. She is ok some of the time but she always acts scared of me and there is no reason for it. Haven't been mean to her at all. I was gone for a day and came back, she was skittish as usual. She went and hid in the closet but I didn't want her in there. I tried every way and she wouldn't come out so I picked her up. She allowed it but then started hissing and scratched and bit me to death, drew a good amount of blood.
I put her in her kennel for now, but I'm really pissed and hurting (physically) and frustrated otherwise.
What should I do?Ouch! New kitten advice needed?
You shouldn't do anything. She's a cat and you violated her space, not the other way around.
If you don't like getting clawed, don't pick her up. Let her come to you for pets instead.
And trim off the very tips of claws so they are dull and not so razor sharp.Ouch! New kitten advice needed?
You brought your new kitten to live in a new strange place and then ignored her ';for the first few days';. How lonely and scary and sad for her. And then you came back and just expected her to act like her long lost buddy. First you need to make friends with your baby (and you have a deficit to make up for abandoning her in the first place!!). She's young, so you may be in luck. You need to remember that she's a baby and she needs your love and attention. And respect too.
You should also get medical attention for your wounds. You can get serious infections from cat scratches and bites.
1. Maybe she was abused where you got her...
2. She is in a new environment and she is scared and not being home for a day doesn't help the bonding. Give her time, she isn't going to warm up to you immediately.
3. Give it time, cats are very cool.
HOLY CRAP SCREW THE PERSON WHO SAID TO DE CLAW!!!!! please do not do that especially if it is an outside cat cause they cannot defend them selves and climb on things and that my friend, is in their nature!!! you should probably just refrain from picking it up but just pet it a lot and show it love. try not to make the other cat jealous or it can progress into constant fights. if she attacks you at knight, then that is pretty normal for kittens, they are very play full!! oh and wash ur cuts with just water.
well cats are hard to get around to when they scared ... she is gonna be one of them cats that dont like to be bothered .. but you have to talk to her and get her use to you. you have to give her a name and get her use to you calling her that. they take long but they come around they just need to feel the trust give her time and try to play with her with toys when you give her food stand around and make her see you and pet her slowly but talk to her she will hear it in your voice that you love her
You have to be patient.
You know you're harmless, the cat doesn't.
Cats especially have to be convinced that friends are a good thing.
Give her time.
Wait for her to come to you. Bribe her with food if necessary.
Talk to her like shes another human being, in a calm soft voice. If she bites or scratches, spank her or make a hissing noise yourself to the cat or else spray her with water so she knows that its not ok to bite or scratch you and to let her know you are like the mother figure.
Mother cats do this to their kittens when they get out of line, such as biting too hard or scratching too hard, the mother cat would hiss or swat at them to let them know it was too hard %26amp; unacceptable.
I would say get her declawed.. Its the prefect time.. Secondly, they make this like plug in air fresher things that actually calm your cat.. Maybe try that until she gets use to the place...

Best of luck.. Im sure it will get better
Different breeds and individuals have different personalities - just like people. Some will become ';lap cats'; and some never will.
Start hand-feeding (only) your kitten. Be gentle and be patient, and over time you'll see what she'll become.
I have two - both started life feral and weaned early. One is a real lap-kitty and the other tolerates humans. They're same age raised in the same house with the same care.
Good luck.
I owned a Maroon Coon. He was very excitable at first. I think because he was alone. Their baby nails are the sharpest. I hand feed him which helped to a point. But I hope you've had her to the Vet to make sure she is in good health and not being effected by something medical. Perhaps there's some retaliation due to separation anxiety. A play mate might help if that's the case. Try not to get mad at her. It'll just make things worse. Besides, I'm sure she isn't doing it to be bad. Love and Patience.
You need to give the kitten time to get used to and comfortable with you and try not to force him into anything (cats are super independent!). Its best if you try not to leave him alone for days at a time, especially in the beginning while he's still figuring out human interaction with him. Keep trying to engage him with toys and play, and mostly just give it time. When he sees you feeding him and caring for him overall, he will start to trust you and love you.
don't leave the cat alone for so long and continue to try and bond with her. talk to her sweetly... cautiously make contact with little pets. let her live in one room for a while - bring cat box, food, water all in there so she acclimates to that room first and just keep being sweet.... I hope it works out!!!! definitley try not to leave her for too long (like a work day at most!).... and you can leave nice music on for her while you are gone...
same thing happende here, just my cat had 6 kittens. my advise is just the cat is shy and doesn't want to be picked up unless it decides it wants to. let it be when it runs and it will get used to you and its environment. it happened to me so you can trust me
You have to build trust with her.
I have an older male cat.
I adopted a little female and she is the most shy, skittish little kitty I have ever had. She was scared of everything and everyone.
I've had her for two years now and while she is still afraid of other people, she did bond with me.
Here are a few things that I did to bring her around (if they will work for you)
Try out all sorts of different toys until you find one she likes. Mine likes the little fur-covered mice. When she is encouraged to play, it distracts her from being nervous.
Since she is female, if you scratch her at the base near the tail she will find it highly relaxing. You will actually see her visibly relax.
Talk to her. If she's hiding, don't reach for her but just sit there and talk. Maybe hold out your hand so that she can get your scent. If she's curious enough, she will come your way.
Reward her when she comes out or approaches you. Give her praise and a treat.
If she doesn't like to be picked up, give her time. Pet her and give her attention wherever she is and eventually she will seek you out to be held.
Give her a 'safespot' that is just hers. I leave a kitty carrier out with the door open and a blanket inside. If she's scared, she will hide there and let her know it's ok. Sometimes she'll hide under the covers. It's cute. I just laugh and lift up the covers and tell her 'hello'.
I have so much more, but hopefully some of these will work for you. She will trust you eventually. Trick is to be encouraging, but not pushy.
get her declawed give her space and love she will come around they are loving but independent cats have one at work he lives in our nursing home

Advice for new Vegan Lifestyle????
After reading the book ';Skinny *****'; I recently decided to make the huge leap into becoming a vegan. I have ate all vegan friendly foods (no meat, fish, honey, dairy, sugar, lots of candies and even changed my toothpaste) for the last month. I am still learning about what restrictions I have, so any advice would be greatly appreciated. The book has a long list of hidden ingrediants to look for and their definition. I am shocked at all the ways animals are incorporated into the foods I was used to consuming. Does anyone know of any good publications or websites that may aid me in this new lifestyle. I have had lots of ridicule from half of my family and the other half seems supportive. Also, my husband has no interest in joining me on this diet, but also doesn't want me to put our two children on it either.Advice for new Vegan Lifestyle????
I'm happy for your voyage. But just so you know...
You have to realize that book is one-sided, much like anything from Michael Moore. Healthy meats have a mulititude of exceptional health benefits, especially fish, such as salmon. And though you may think popping vitamins and pomegranate juice and changing your toothpaste might make up for your losses, thats incredibly false.
MEAT. The only way to live.Advice for new Vegan Lifestyle????
';Skinny B!tch'; has a pretty good list of stuff that is safe to eat. As they point out, it's about replacing your old junk food with new junk food.
If you're worried about animal testing, check out www.CompassionateConsumer.com. Many of the products are veg-friendly, but they do list companies that use honey, beeswax, lanolin, and a few other icky ingredients.
Lush is also a good company with lots of vegan bath and body stuff; they have a stringent policy against animal testing. J/A/S/O/N, Nature's Gate, Pangea Organics, Avalon--all make vegan-friendly stuff and are available at your local natural foods store.
Check out www.vegweb.com for recipes and resources for vegans.
www.happycow.net and www.vegdining.com will lead you to vegetarian and veg-friendly restaurants in your area.
A couple of shopping sites: www.veganstore.com and www.veganessentials.com. You can now get vegan gum!
Ignore those who ridicule you. You're doing what's right for you, and hopefully your husband will be more supportive as time passes and agree to eat less meat, even if they don't go on your diet. There are lots of great analogues out there.
Yeah: leave it.
Wow.. That's Amazing. [: I'm glad you've decided to make ';The Switch';
I've been Vegetarian for the past 4 months. I'm trying to wean myself into Veganism next.
I totally have to get that book!

The one thing I can caution you about (because I have done a lot of research on this) is the B12 deficiency. You can find some articles to the contrary, but they are just wrong. If you are going to go 100% vegan, you really need to supplement your vitamins, especially B12. If you don't this can really damage your nerves and brain later in life.
Why do all these liberal fads have to be ';lifestyles';? I don't claim to embrace the ';meat eating lifestyle';.
Become familiar with common animal ingredients.
Here are a few ingredient lists (to add to the one that you already have)
http://www.ivu.org/faq/animal_derived.ht鈥?/a>
--%26gt; http://www.ivu.org/faq/index.html
http://www.veganpeace.com/ingredients/in鈥?/a>
http://www.peta.org/mc/factsheet_display鈥?/a>
Triple check ingredient labels before buying food. Sometimes you'll buy something and not realize that it has animal crap in it until you get it home. Or worse you get it home, crap it open, start cooking it and go, ';Hmmm why does this smell/taste like chicken?';. Which makes you decide to look over the tiny printed ingredients one more time. Then you realize what's happening, and feel the need to run quickly to the bathroom and -- do I have to say anymore? :]
Sometimes that stuff is easy to overlook.
There are tons of sites... Here are just a few:

http://www.ivu.org/archives.html
http://www.vegansociety.com/html/food/nu鈥?/a>
http://www.vegan.org/about_veganism/
http://www.veganwolf.com/

There are a lot of good books, I flipped through ';Vegan Freak'; (I can afford to be buying brand new books though...) but from what I've read it looks really good.
Here it is on Amazon.com:
http://www.amazon.com/Vegan-Freak-Being-鈥?/a>
Just click the image and you'll be able to read an excerpt.
Take a trip to your local book store and browse the vegetarian section... you should find loads of good books.
Most of us have probably had our share of ridicule. It is really annoying at first, but really some people just have nothing better to do than to make fun of others. The best way to deal with it is to just ignore it as much as possible. And when you just can鈥檛 bite your tongue anymore, know enough about the subject to really let them have it! :] Or at least make it so they don鈥檛 want to lecture you about your life anymore鈥hat鈥檚 always fun.
As far as your husband situation goes, if he really doesn't want to become a vegetarian then it's his choice. My boyfriend is a meat-eater and I am a strict vegetarian, we get along fine and we have been for years. Don't let the fact that you choose to live differently then him get in your way.
Just don't bother him about what he eats as long as he doesn't dip his ';milky'; coffee spoon in your raw sugar... LOL
About the kids, I don't have kids so my advice comes from no experience. But if your husband sees how healthy and happy you are from switching to a vegan diet, he will probably come around sooner or later.
And I just have to add (because I saw some answers that told you to take supplements)
If you watch what you eat, there is no need for any kind of supplement.
You can get all of your vitamins and nutrients from plant foods.
Good luck :]
Rice, salsa, and bean burritos are delicious!!!
=]
Please remember that veganism is a lifestyle, not just what you eat. Vegans don鈥檛 wear leather, fur, or wool, buy products from companies that conduct non-required animal toxicity tests:
http://www.caringconsumer.com/pdfs/compa鈥?/a>
Or frequent zoos, rodeos, circuses, or other places where animals are held in captivity or forced to perform.
Also, it鈥檚 about economics. It doesn鈥檛 matter if you give the chicken on your chicken salad to someone else. The restaurant gave you that chicken, and are going to have to buy more to replace it. Economically, you might as well have eaten it. Also, if you buy meat/ dairy for your family YOU ARE NOT A VEGAN! You are still giving your money to industries that torture animals to make unhealthy products, regardless of whether you eat it.
You have just as much say as your husband when it comes to your children's lifestyle, if not more, as the vegan diet is far healthier. At least convince your husband to raise them vegetarian.
I am really sorry that you have gotten so many negative, off-topic answers to your question. As some have pointed out, goveg.com is a good source. Also, the vegetarian society and even PETA can be helpful.
And to all of the people trying to discourage her by telling her she will be malnourished and will need to take supplements, please stop spreading misinformation. There are tens of thousands (at least) of very healthy vegans out there who have never had to take a supplement, including myself. If done remotely correctly, veganism is an extremely healthy diet.
goveg.com is a good resource. They have all sorts of recipes, shopping and dining out guides, and links to other websites to help in your transition. Also try http://www.peta.org/accidentallyvegan/ Hope this helps!
take a calcium supplement because you'll have weak bones as you grow older
';take calcium cause your bones will get weaker as you grow older';?
Here are some facts taken from The PCRM site:
';Researchers have clearly established that animal proteins increase the loss of calcium by increasing the amount of calcium your kidneys remove from the blood and excrete in the urine. When people avoid animal proteins, their calcium losses are cut to less than half of what they had been.';
';Protein is not a problem on vegetarian diets, because plant foods have plenty of protein. Any normal variety of plant products contains more than enough protein for the body鈥檚 needs.
Calcium is found in abundance in green leafy vegetables and beans. You鈥檒l also find a very rich source of calcium in fortified orange juice. Also, plant-based diets actually reduce the amount of calcium that is lost through the kidneys each day.
Iron balance tends to be better on pure vegetarian diets than on other diets. Green leafy vegetables and legumes (beans, peas, and lentils) are rich in a form of iron that is more absorbable if your body needs more iron and less absorbable when your body already has plenty of iron. Avoiding dairy products helps, because they contain virtually no iron and can actually inhibit iron absorption.';
';It is hard to turn on the television without hearing commercials suggesting that milk promotes strong bones. The commercials do not point out that only 30 percent of milk's calcium is absorbed by the body or that osteoporosis is common among milk drinkers. Nor do they help you correct the real causes of bone loss.';
-Dr. Neal Barnard
Every person that makes a life change runs into trouble with relatives/friends. Your family is simply not comfortable with the fact that there's gonna be someone at the table reminding them that using animals is wrong. For the animals, for us, for the environment. Be strong and don't forsake your ideals just because it's hard.
Now don't try to avoid EVERY animal product, just the obvious ones, like hmmm, steak and eggs... Otherwise you'll get frustrated.
-Ms. Green
OK, good for you if that is what you want. I have no problem.
But I have a very serious question, fertilizer is from animal products so don't vegans have to go totally organic on everything they do eat?
Alright it bugs the crap out of me when people say ';humans have canine teeth for eating meat'; People we also still have tail bones but our tails are long gone!!!!!
I am not a veggie, but I have seen the benefits in cutting back on my consumption of red meat.
Please feel good about your choice - many many people have ';special'; diets, either for medical reasons or totally by choice, somehow everyone picks on vegans...
The nutritional comment I agree with here is the one about needing B12 - which is in most fortified soy/rice milks. Please buy enriched soy milk (we use Soy Dream) and you will get plenty of B12. Vanilla is very good in coffee (they use it at Starbucks)
Lots of people mention good websites, there are also great cookbooks with both simple and elaborate meals that are really family friendly. I particularly like Tofu and Soy Cookery by Peter Golbitz. There are more - check out the cookbook section of your local bookstore.
Your whole family will like it if you learn to cook vegan - no one wants a week of raw tofu on a plate, so learn to use it as you would meat, and you can just sub it into your regular recipes.

';I am shocked at all the ways animals are incorporated into the foods I was used to consuming.';
It is amazing isn't it?
First, you have to grow all of your own food. If you buy produce at a store (even ';organic';) it's been fertilized with rendered animal parts. That is non-vegan. As long as you eat store bought produce you are a vegetarian and not a vegan.
My best friend is nearly vegan. She won't eat eggs but eats dairy. It is really difficult for her to get all of the nutrients her body needs. She gets tired really easily and has a number of other health problems related to her not getting what she needs out of her diet. She tends to be a picky eater too (doesn't like this, doesn't like that). So I think you'd better not be picky about what is actually available for you to eat.
Just a side comment and I'm not trying to be preachy. We humans have canine teeth. Those are for eating meat. It is a natural part of our diet. It's dangerous to cut anything completely out of your diet. I understand that you might think that by eating meat you are supporting the poor treatment of animals but it is possible to recieve animal products from animals that are treated in a way that is considered humane (i.e. free range chicken eggs). I respect that you are trying to make a change for the better but I hope that you consider all sides before making your ';leap';. Good luck!
Wow.. That's Amazing. [: I'm glad you've decided to make ';The Switch';

Triple check ingredient labels before buying food. Sometimes you'll buy something and not realize that it has animal crap in it until you get it home. Or worse you get it home, crap it open, start cooking it and go, ';Hmmm why does this smell/taste like chicken?';. Which makes you decide to look over the tiny printed ingredients one more time. Then you realize what's happening, and feel the need to run quickly to the bathroom and -- do I have to say anymore? :]
Sometimes that stuff is easy to overlook.
There are tons of sites... Here are just a few:

';Researchers have clearly established that animal proteins increase the loss of calcium by increasing the amount of calcium your kidneys remove from the blood and excrete in the urine. When people avoid animal proteins, their calcium losses are cut to less than half of what they had been.';
';Protein is not a problem on vegetarian diets, because plant foods have plenty of protein.
Iron balance tends to be better on pure vegetarian diets than on other diets. Green leafy vegetables and legumes (beans, peas, and lentils) are rich in a form of iron that is more absorbable if your body needs more iron and less absorbable when your body already has plenty of iron. Avoiding dairy products helps, because they contain virtually no iron and can actually inhibit iron absorption.';
';It is hard to turn on the television without hearing commercials suggesting that milk promotes strong bones. The commercials do not point out that only 30 percent of milk's calcium is absorbed by the body or that osteoporosis is common among milk drinkers. Nor do they help you correct the real causes of bone loss.';
Good luck!

New to AAU and first game tomorow, advice?
I have my first AAU bball game tomorow and i am very nervous. I play point so i have to know all the plays. My coach puts me at shooting guard [2] sometimes, [in past scrimmages ,this is a game] i sort of know what a 2 does on our offense plays but not positive. Any advice?New to AAU and first game tomorow, advice?
lol calm doooowwn! Firstly, be cool about it. Mentally prepare yourself. Being a basketball player you gotta pay attention . See as a point guard you gotta know the plays, such as knowing what each position on the court does on a certain play. Being a point you must know what ';each of your teamates are doing'; in order to find error in the play, and to know whether or not the team is doing the play RIGHT and not wrong.
But, if your playing the 2 postition in other words it's called a shooting guard. This doesn't mean all is you do is shoot. As a 2 you can do all sorts of things. Set screens for the post, screen for the point, shoot the open 3, drive to the bucket, penetrate to the basekt and dish to the post(give n go).
Although, Just because your the 2 posistion doesn't mean you change your game. Everything is the same all five players must play defense, and rebound. Your just set up at a different spot on the court to create spacing to break down the defense.
This is my advice to you, I say go out there, and just play let the game come to you alright! Like other responders said.. ask your coach to go over plays with you before the game (and not five min before the game) Even better ask a teamate. Find a teamate that knows them such as the pointguard or another guard. Make sure you know what every spot is doing.Even tonight go over the plays in your head, or draw it out on paper.
Well just relax, think about positive stuff before you go to bed tonight don't think about anything such as missing a shot, or screwing up a play. Instead, replace bad thoughts with good such as ';all your shots going in';, and ';scoring of a play that you set up';. Trust me if you think about these things you will have a great game! I found that replacing the negative with positive helps your game a lot! So do what you have to do, and good luck tell me how it goes!!!

B4 your game go up to your coach and ask he/she if they can go over the plays with you. But if you are nervous of going up to your coach and asking them go to one of the more experienced players and ask them to help you!!! Do your best!!! GOOD LUCK 2MORROW!!!!!!
Just play your game and take over the game scoring and defense and shooting guards shoot the ball and make plays for teammates on your team.
Just think as if you were actually in a scrimmage. Also saty in the game and be cool, and everything will be cool.

Meeting new people advice?
I just recently moved to a new city. I just turned 17 last week .Not currently in school and looking to make new friends. I won't be in school again till I'm 18 in college so school isn't a suggestion. I'm mostly home studying so I can get into college. Where are some common places I can go to meet new people? all the best friends I've ever had came from school.so I'm a little worried. Is it easy to make new friends after moving? because it's starting to seem impossible. Is the mall a good suggestion? I'm sure I can meet females in the mall and get a girlfriend/friend, but what about making male friends? I'm not that athletic at the moment so I'm not too sure about the park. mines empty anyway. I did knock a few ideas already, but I'm open to all suggestions.Meeting new people advice?
go to the mall and meet people. go to a music store and talk to a clerk if he seems like he's your age. also, if you like acting, join a local drama club. trust me, that's the absolute best place to meet people. :)Meeting new people advice?
Do you play music/want to start music, maybe join a music club?
Any other type of activity club/organisation you can do in your spare time would be a great place to meet new people, who share the same interest.
Good Luck =]
